storybook for Celestine, my butterfly fairy art doll, documenting her transformation from an idea into a finished work of mixed media art. The book would become her Certificate of Authenticity.

 

Eight signatures.
One photograph on every page.
One beautiful little book.

 

Simple, right?

 

Not quite.

For two days, I wrestled with Word, Publisher, photographs, page orientation, and software that seemed determined to have a creative vision of its own.

 

It was messy.

 

It was frustrating.

 

Somewhere between the failed layouts and the hand-trimmed photographs, I realized that the messy middle of creating is rarely visible in the finished piece.
